Scotland has some of the best Grayling fishing in Europe where 3lb plus specimens or 50cm plus Grayling are caught every season!
Their iconic dorsal fin allows them to hold in strong currents, making them dogged fighters and such a worthy species to target in Scotland.
Although not indigenous, the Grayling has prospered in the lowland Scottish rivers for more than two centuries after initially being released back in the 1800’s as an experiment.
It’s survived years of persecution, as it was once seen as a pest for eating Salmon eggs.
The modern attitudes towards Grayling have thankfully changed and now the Grayling is seen as a sporting winter species by allowing year round wild fishing opportunities.

To fly fish for Grayling in Scotland we employ predominately nymphing tactics. Our preferred way to fish for them is euro-nymph style or Czech-nymph style.
This is a very simple straightforward fly fishing technique to get the basics of, even with no previous fly fishing experience.
You can also fish with an indicator or bobber if this is your preferred nymphing style.
We operate a 100% catch and release policy for all wild Grayling fishing in Scotland.
