A Winter Passion is a film produced and edited by Callum Conner, owner & head guide of Scotia Fishing.
His goal is to showcase his passion for winter Grayling fly fishing in Scotland.
This area of our sport has seen a massive growth in recent times as anglers look to extend their fishing seasons beyond the traditional Trout and Salmon season.
This has been filmed over the course of the winter season on the River Tweed. I hope you enjoy the footage. I also hope it inspires you to get outside during the winter months and stay fit and active.
We recently had the pleasure of fishing for Golden Dorado on the Rio Corriente & Parana system at the superb Don Jaoquin River Lodge in Corrientes, Argentina. An outstanding experience one we will not forget – please enjoy the footage!
Many thanks to the outstanding kitchen and staff at the Don Jaoquin River Lodge, the owners Felix & Ramon Salonet for providing a first class experience, Chuillito for his superb guiding, our host Felix for his hospitality and humour and my friend Stevie Carella for his patience in filming!
Magnus came all the way from Sweden for two days to celebrate his birthday (which he shares with my son). In two days he hooked ten Salmon and landed five of them. Our head guide Callum Conner managed to capture some of the special moments on camera to have the memories to look back on. A special two days!
Young Jacopo from Italy returned in 2016 to fish for Salmon and Pike after fishing for Pike & Trout/Grayling in 2015 with us. I was stoked to see him land this perfect 18lb bar of silver from the River Tay at Lower Scone. A special moment and a highlight of my guiding career.
Sebastian from Germany had an epic day on the River Tay in August 2016 landing a fine brace of River Tay Salmon on the fly. Not bad for his first ever time spey casting with a two handed fly rod!
Matt Zimmerman from Why Knot Fishing, fished with head guide Callum Conner in September 2016 on the River Tay. Matt fished hard and persevered with the spey casting most of the day in search of a River Tay Salmon. With a couple of hours to go he took my advice to throw a Spinner and was rewarded with this 19.5lb hen Salmon. A special fish that was landed 3oo yards down river from where we hooked her! Proof it pays to be open minded to tactics when time is limited. Thoroughly deserved Matt!
This is a short promotional film created to promote the fly fishing instruction side of our business. This whole video was shot on Gopro – quite amazing what you can do with these things!
Here’s one of our clients from 2014 with the biggest fish of the year caught on our trips weighing in at 22lbs!
A video testimonial live from the Lake from lovely Canadian couple after their first introduction fly fishing!
Ex Australian Commonwealth fly fishing team member Graham spent two days with us in 2014 catching some great wild brown trout and had some kind words to say about his experience.
